Built for Australian SMBs

Absence leaves
a pattern.
We make it visible.

Every resignation starts months earlier — in the Mondays, the short-notice sick days, the missed follow-ups your spreadsheet can't see. Absence tracks unplanned absence against the NES 10-day allowance and surfaces the signal before it becomes an exit interview.

The signal everyone misses

Unplanned absence is the most reliable early-warning signal your business has. Patterns shift months before someone resigns. Spreadsheets bury it. Charts surface it.

"We had three Monday-only absences from the same person across two months. Nobody spotted it. By the time we did, they'd already accepted another job. We won't make that mistake again."

How it works

Three things,
done properly.

No bloated HR suite. No 90-day implementation. Keep scrolling — the product walks itself.

1

Capture in seconds

Searchable employee dropdown, today's date pre-filled, multi-day ranges. Phone call to logged record in under 30 seconds.

2

Close the loop

Every UPA gets a return-to-work tickbox. Pending conversations surface on the dashboard until they're done — with notes for the record.

3

See the pattern

Day-of-week heatmaps, % of the NES 10-day allowance used, reason trends, team-leader filters. The recurring Monday stops being invisible.

Features

Built for the people doing the work.

Designed with operations managers and team leaders, not for HR audits. Every feature earns its place.

One-click multi-day entries

Pick a start and end date. Weekends skipped by default. One submission, five clean records.

Return-to-work queue

Pending RTWs surface with inline tick + notes. The second conversation never slips again.

Day-of-week pattern detection

Per-employee weekday heatmaps. The recurring Monday or Friday becomes obvious at a glance.

Statutory allowance tracking

Defaults to the NES 10-day allowance, pro-rates by hire date. Override to match any award or internal policy.

Sensitive flagging

Mental health, bereavement, harassment — flag it and notes are masked from non-admin views and exports.

Team-leader scoping

Assign employees to a reporting team leader. Filter every report and queue by team in one click.

CSV export & audit trail

Every entry timestamped with who logged it. Exports for payroll, board reports or Fair Work record-keeping.

Role-based access

Admins see everything. Team leaders log and report. CSRF, password hashing, secure sessions built in.

5-minute setup

Import your employee list from your existing spreadsheet. Start logging the same day. No consultants.

Talk to sales

All Customer Data is stored in Australia. All plans include unlimited UPA records, CSV export, and our security baseline (CSRF, password hashing, role-based access). GST included for Australian customers.

Questions we get a lot.

What exactly is a UPA?
UPA stands for Unplanned Absence — any sick day, no-show, or short-notice time off taken under personal/carer's leave that wasn't booked as annual leave in advance. It's the leading indicator most teams under-track.
Is my data safe? Where is it stored?
Yes. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, and stored in Australia — your employee data never leaves Australia in the ordinary course. We're built for the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, including the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. Sensitive notes are masked from non-admin users in both the UI and CSV exports. Enterprise customers can self-host. DPA available on request.
Can I match my country's statutory leave entitlement?
Yes — the default is the NES 10-day allowance, and you can override the global allowance to suit awards, state rules, or generous internal policies. The system pro-rates automatically by hire date for current-year hires. Part-time pro-rating is on the roadmap.
Can I import from my existing spreadsheet?
The fastest path is to import your employee list (name, email, hire date, team leader) from a CSV. Historical UPA records can be imported too — we'll do the first one with you on a 20-minute call (AEST business hours).
Do I need to be HR-trained to use this?
No. Absence is designed for operations managers and team leaders running 5–100 person teams. The interface is opinionated — it tells you what to do next, not just where the data lives.
What happens after the 14-day Pro trial?
Your account drops back to the Free tier — your data is preserved. If you have more than 5 employees by then you'll be prompted to upgrade or archive down to the free limit. We never lock data behind a paywall.
Can we cancel anytime? Any lock-in contracts?
No lock-in. Monthly plans cancel anytime from your settings page. Annual plans are pro-rated and you keep access through the end of the period. No phone calls, no retention scripts.
